Closure® procedure by VNUS
The Minimally Invasive Alternative to Vein Stripping
Finally, an alternative in the treatment for painful and unsightly varicose veins.
Find out if this procedure could be right for you?
What is the VNUS Closure Procedure?
The VNUS Closure® procedure is a minimally invasive treatment for superficial venous reflux, a condition that develops when valves that usually keep blood flowing out of your legs becomes damaged or diseased, and results in a backward flow of blood. This leads to symptoms such as pain, swelling and varicose veins.
The Closure® procedure by VNUS closes the problem vein using a patented system: A thin catheter is inserted into the vein through a small opening. The catheter delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy to the vein wall, causing it to heat, collapse, and seal shut. Once the diseased vein is closed, other healthy leg veins take over and empty blood from your legs.
The VNUS Closure® procedure is a less painful, less invasive procedure with a shorter recovery period than surgically removing (stripping) the troublesome vein from your leg.

- Catheter is removed, bandage placed over the insertion site and your leg may be wrapped for typically 1 day to aid healing.
- Your symptoms should also improve noticeably following the procedure.

Your doctor may also ask you to walk, wear compression stockings and to refrain from long periods of standing for a few weeks following the procedure to help speed your recovery. Most patients can resume normal activity immediately.
